in high school we had a lovely time at someone’s cotillion where we spent the evening with a few friendly faces from school. as wonderful of people as they were, there lacked a sense of personal connection that easily attributed to our discomfort when we respectfully declined joining them on the dance floor at the end the night. our embarrassingly underdeveloped dance skills wouldn’t DARE be seen on the same floor as their moves that could only belong to rhythmic masters.

it was common behavior from us back then. even though we went to school with a lot of very nice people, there were very few that we felt completely at ease with, so every day for 4 years we spent lunch in the parking lot behind school, split your homemade pb&j sandwich, and talked like an old married couple.

when we got home that night earlier than planned, you asked me what i wanted to do. we ended up building a blanket fort, layed inside, and talked like an old married couple that still knew how to feel as young and sweet as a childhood crush :)
